Ange Muhorakeye who is originally from Rwanda and now living in the United States, learned the art of basket weaving from her grandmother and mother at a young age. What started as a childhood pastime became a passion she pursued after moving to the U.S. Ange’s baskets, initially seen as commonplace, gained appreciation among her new friends and customers. During COVID-19 quarantine, she devoted more time to weaving, showcasing her creations online and at local craft fairs, including MARKINGS in Bath, Maine.
